What Are You Reading?

I've decided to start a new feature. Once a month, I'll post that title and I'll share what I've just finished reading, what I am currently reading, and what's next on my pile to be read. I figure once a month might be doable. I used to read on an average of a book a day-sometimes two a day. Since I decided to write my own book and pursue it to publication-I'm lucky to read a book a month!

Okay, here's my list as of April 3, 2008:

What I just finished reading- Outlaw Bride by Jenna Kernan.
From the back of the book: Bridget Callaghan was willing to do anything to save her family, stranded in the Cascade Mountains. The only man who could attempt such a treacherous rescue mission was Cole Ellis, but he was behind bars-and condemned to hang!

Bridget's boldness in breaking him out of jail was the jolt Cole needed to give his life purpose again. But with a posse at their heels and and the mountain looming, she couldn't help but wonder if putting her trust in this thouh, life-hardened man wasn't the biggest danger of all...

What I am currently reading-The Seduction of an Unknown Lady by Samantha James
From the back of the book: Seduction is something Fionna Hawkes knows nothing about. So when she encounters a sexy stranger on a moonlit street, her first instinct is to defend herself against her darkly handsome suitor. But letting go of suspicion and allowing herself to fall for Lord Aidan McBride brings even greater danger. In his eyes, she glimpses a powerful passion she longs to fulfill. In his arms, she aches with the secret she longs to unburden. A secret that could cost her her livelihood-and her life.

Aidan could never resist a mystery, especially one as mesmerizing as the lovely Miss Hawkes! Drawing her into the shelter of his embrace, he won't rest until he convinces her to reveal everything. Braving the danger that stalks Fionna at every turn, Aidan is determined to defend her-and just as determined to claim her as his own.

What I am reading next- Ack! I don't have anything lined up next! It's off to Amazon with me.

I want to send a huge congratulations out to my critique partner, Pamela Bolton-Holifield, for her final in the Golden Heart! I am so proud of you, Pam!

Okay, readers, what's your book of the month?

Blogger is a fickle entity, isn't it?:)

I finished reading: Bobbie Faye's Very Bad Day by Toni McGee Causey. It's a scream! More of a wild ride than Stephanie Plum, and so vivid in both description of locations and characters that you can just see it come to life. I adore this book!

Gillian, I have to confess that I have never read the Stephanie Plum books! I am going to give them a try (I got one off of my sis to try out). I will have to check this book out-I love the title-it sounds like a hilarous read.

I just finished The Warrior by Kinley Macgregor. I'm reading Surrender by Pamela Clare presently(which I won, how cool is that?). And next for me is the new Jenna Peterson, Lessons from a Courtesan(Which is an ARC I won!). This month I'm the luckiest girl in the...well, I'm lucky.lol.

It's funny that you caught me at a time that I'm actually reading, because for the longest time I've just been writing and been very strict about not reading anything-as to not taint my voice.
Good to hear from you again Terry!

Hey, Terry Jo! Glad you are back. Thanks so much for the congrats! I couldn't have done it without you and the other Slaves!!

Right now I am reading Private Arrangements by Sherry Thomas. Lot of hype attached to this book. I will let you know what I think!

Great topic, Terry.

I'm currently working my way through this year's Rita finalists in the Contemporary Series Romance category.

By reading award-winning books (and a Rita finalist is a winner as far as I'm concerned!) I hope to learn enough about craft to improve my own writing.

And of course I'm guaranteed some great reads as part of the process!

Kelly, I loved the Warrior! I actually love that entire series by Kinley MacGregor.

Lucky you, winning those arcs! I love winning books and always read them as soon as I get them. I also send an email to the author letting them know how I felt about the books. I don't know if they (the authors) like hearing back from me but if I gave away a book, I would want to know if the reciepent enjoyed it or not.

Pam, deifinitely let me know how Private Arrangements was. I had it in my hand to buy, but I got distracted (I'd lay odds it involved a screaming kid, that's about the only thing that distracts me when I'm buying books!) and it disappeared.

Lee, welcome!

Now that is smart! I am going to take that approach and devour the historical list (I wonder if any westerns finalled?). Great idea.

And I agree, anyone that finalled in the contest must have an amazing book, so you can't go wrong.

Oh, Lee, what a good idea. I think I'm going to hit up the Ritas too. I haven't read a few of the Regencies on it yet. Anna Campbell stops by our blog and she's in my TBR, but I haven't had a chance to read a lot recently with my writing. But, like Kelly, I've had a recent desire to take a mental break from my WIP and bury myself in a book. So, we can read together!

Marnee, welcome, too! I love seeing new faces here.

It must be a moon phase-I just read those books and they were so wonderful I wanted to brag them up-and all of you are actually reading too! Who knew when we started writing that our reading would suffer so drastically? Surely not me.
